Overheard at home
Kathryn attempts to measure Uncle Daniel's height in inches using a sewing tape-measure...
Daniel: It's not long enough.
Kathryn: Turn it around, there's more numbers on the other side!
Later, looking at Louise's primary school class photo...
Daniel: [pointing at large child] Who's that fella?
Louise: DANIEL!
Daniel: What?!
Louise: That's a girl.
Daniel looks again with an appropriately repentant expression. Then composure deserts him; he snorts and falls into giggles. Bailey drops a tomato.
Several minutes pass. Daniel begins sniggering in reminiscence.
Granny (also Daniel's and Mammy Donnelly's Mammy): [reproving] What are you laughing at?
Daniel: ... This cheese. It's very funny.
